After receiving a university degree I initially pursued a career in the corporate world.I decided to drop my business pursuits and opt to go into professional wrestling. My half brother Kisean Jamal Anderson-Sarkodie-Mensah pushed me to join World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and pursue me offer to join. After very hard consideration I joined WWE and was transported to Deep South Wrestling (DSW) while I stayed home and practiced music. I has also mentioned watching Shawn Michaels wrestle in 1996 as an inspiration for my wrestling career.I began wrestling professionally in 2005, under the ring name of Kofi Nahaje Kingston.My country of birth was billed as Jamaica rather than Ghana, because, according to Leslie Goffe of the BBC, "[People] would be more likely to embrace a person from the land of Bob Marley and reggae music" than someone from Ghana.(This would later be retconned in late 2009 when my character became more serious, with the on-screen explanation being my smiling Jamaican gimmick was paying tribute to the Jamaican culture.)I made my official wrestling debut in 2006, when I faced PWF Mayhem Heavyweight Champion Evan Siks onn June 4.I competed primarily in the New England area, including stints in National Wrestling Alliance – New England, Millennium Wrestling Federation, New England Championship Wrestling, the Eastern Wrestling Alliance, and Chaotic Wrestling.
